AHL, IHL TEAMS ACQUIRE SIX REBELS

The Roanoke Valley Rebels' East Coast Hockey League season ended Tuesday, but six Rebels won't be packing up their sticks yet.

Defensemen Henry Dunn, Peter Sentner and Rob Wilson and forwards Brian Bellefeuille and Greg Neish have been invited to join the New Haven (Conn.) Nighthawks of the American Hockey League. Goaltender Bill Horn has been asked to report to Kalamazoo (Mich.) of the International Hockey League.

The players became available when the Rebels failed to make the ECHL playoffs, which began Wednesday night.

For one other Rebel - forward Greg Simeone - the news wasn't so good. Simeone was cut in the left side of the face by a skate in Tuesday's season finale at Louisville, Ky. The cut required some 50 stitches from a plastic surgeon. - Staff report
