JMU WOMEN ADVANCE

Vicki Harris scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Wednesday as James Madison rallied in the second half to defeat Kentucky 70-62 in a first-round East Regional game of the NCAA women's basketball tournament.

Madison (25-4) will play No. 1 Penn State (29-1) on Saturday at Penn State.

The Dukes trailed 27-22 at the half after hitting only 8 of 26 shots from the floor (30.8 percent). In the second half, the Dukes found their shooting eye, hitting 20 of 33 from the field, a torrid 60.6 percent.

Brandy Cruthird had 14 points for James Madison, while Paula Schuler added 12 and Kerri Gilmore and Nickie Hardison each had 11.

\ George Washington 73 Richmond 62 Mary Nordling scored 26 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Colonials dumped the Spiders in a East Regional first-round game.

Nordling scored 17 points to pace George Washington (23-6) to a 36-28 halftime lead.

The Spiders (26-5) pulled to 58-56 on a 3-pointer by Julie Jones, but Kristin McArdle scored two quick baskets for a 62-56 lead with 3:42 remaining.

Ginny Norton led the Spiders with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
