ROANOKER TREATED FOR LEG WOUND

An 18-year-old Roanoke man was listed in stable condition today at Roanoke Memorial Hospital where he was admitted after being shot in the leg Wednesday evening on Harrison Avenue Northwest.

Police said Recceion Jones was shot after two men approached him and one of them pulled a pistol shortly before 7 p.m.

Jones ran for help to a residence in the 500 block of Fifth Street Northwest, and was found lying on the floor when police arrived.

Jones told police that he was approached by two people on the 400 block of Harrison Avenue, an area where crack cocaine is often sold. One of the men, who appeared to be a juvenile, brandished a gun and shot Jones in the upper left leg, police said.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is continuing.

In an unrelated report, police said today that Chenchel Augle, 48, was robbed at gunpoint by two masked men Wednesday night as he left the Star City Food Center at 13th Street and Tazewell Avenue Southeast.
