Lake Lambert Newton, daughter of the late Evaline Mitchell Lambert and Thomas Alva Lambert, of Roanoke, Salem and Welch, W.Va., died suddenly Monday, March 11, 1991. She was the widow of James Alderman Newton and was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Newtown Wagener, Irvington, Va. Mrs. Newton was an educator and librarian in the Roanoke Valley and Giles County, Va. and was an active member of the Salem Baptist Church. A member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, she attendant Hollins College and West Virginia University. Surviving are a daughter, Constance Newton Pepiot, Roanoke; seven grandchildren, James Hunter Wagener and Susan Wagener Higgins, Richmond; Robert Stephen Pepiot, Jr. and Sarah Courtney Akin, Roanoke; Margaret Pepiot Bruton, Mary Brooks Shepard and Page Pepiot Sanders, all of the Dallas, Texas area. A memorial service, conducted by Dr. B. Conrad Johnston will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 at Salem Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to "Just As I Am" Ministry, a Christian support group she favored and herself supported, address P.O. Box 605, Irvington, Va. 22480.
