WISE INN RECOGNITION COMES AFTER CLOSING

The Wise Inn has made both the state and national lists of historic landmarks, but the recognition may have come too late.

The 80-year-old main hotel building has been closed for more than a year. Only some of the newer hotel units behind it still are being used.

The inn's owners have made no comment on their plans for the facility, if any.

The Norton branch of the American Association of University Women, which nominated the inn to the National Register of Historic Places, hopes to interest prospective buyers in renovating and reopening it. - Southwest bureau
