PARTNERS SUE EVANGELIST, CHRISTIAN RETREAT OWNER

The evangelist who bought the former PTL Christian theme park has been accused in a lawsuit of misusing $4 million he received from selling memberships in the New Heritage USA Christian retreat.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday by partners of evangelist Morris Cerullo said membership cards promised lifetime, half-price discounts for hotels and attractions at the Christian retreat.

Cerullo's partners said they knew nothing about the promises until January. They said they fear the discounts could throw New Heritage into financial trouble.

The lawsuit said the money flowed into an escrow account controlled by him. "We have not seen a single check," New Heritage President Yet King Loy said. - Associated Press
