BRUNSWICK, UNION MEET; NO PROGRESS

Representatives of Brunswick Corp. and the Carpenters Union met for four hours on Thursday afternoon but reported no progress in resolving a labor impasse. It was the first meeting between the parties since the strike began two weeks ago at the defense products plant in Marion.

Myron DeBord, president of Local 1764 of the union, said the talks, called by federal mediator Lonnie Stokes, will resume this morning. - Staff report
