HOWARD ASHMAN, LYRICIST, DIES AT 40

Howard Ashman, prize-winning lyricist, died Thursday of complications from AIDS, according to Walt Disney Pictures.

Ashman, 40, and his longtime collaborator, Alan Menken, shared the 1989 Best Song Oscar for "Under the Sea," featured in the Disney film "The Little Mermaid."
