TAYLOR ACUTION TODAY

Donald "Whitey" Taylor, the flamboyant stock car track owner, apparently did not leave financial troubles behind when his U.S. Bankruptcy Court petition was dismissed in January.

Taylor's Hunting Hills home and a second property on U.S. 220 are scheduled to be auctioned today on the steps of the Roanoke County Courthouse.

An ever-confident Taylor said Thursday that Crestar Bank would call off the auction at the last minute.

Taylor said that the Hunting Hills home had been sold for $240,000 to pay off a $170,000 mortgage and that the payments are up to date on the U.S. 220 property.

A Crestar Bank spokesman confirmed Thursday that the auction was still on schedule, but said the bank could not make any other comment because of client confidentiality.

In November, Taylor petitioned the U.S. Bankrutcy Court for protection from creditors to block a foreclosure auction of the Franklin County Speedway property in Callaway.

Taylor later worked out a plan to repay loans totaling $170,000 on the property. The bankruptcy petition was released on Jan. 14.
