CONNELLS AT SACKETT'S IN RADFORD

Recording artist The Connells will headline a benefit concert Tuesday at Sackett's in Radford.

Proceeds from the show, which also features BS&M and Deadly Urge (also known as DU), will be given to the American Diabetes Association, the Pendleton Memorial Fund and the Tinschert Fund. Radford University's Tau Kappa Episilon fraternity and WVVV-Rock 105 are sponsors.

The Connells - formed by David and Mike Connell - released "One Simple Word" in 1990. It received national acclaim and heavy radio play.

The Connells consist of David on bass, Mike on guitar, George Huntley on guitar and vocals, lead vocalist Doug MacMillan and drummer Peele Wimberley.

The Connells are produced by TVT Records in New York. Mike Connell writes almost all of the band's music.

Tickets are on sale at the Record Exchange in Blacksburg and the Radford University Post Office for $16. There is a $2 discount with a student ID.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Deadly Urge plays at 8:30 p.m. BS&M hits the stage at 9:45 p.m., and the Connells perform at 11 p.m. Call Sackett's at 731-0647 for more information.
