This latest installment brings the Seay bequest to a total of almost $1.5 million.
Seay, a founding partner of the engineering firm Hayes Seay Mattern & Mattern of Roanoke, died in 1981. His estate provided for the creation of the Gilbert L. Seay and Lucille C. Seay Scholarship Fund, to be used for scholarships or loans for needy and deserving engineering students.
Some 180 students already have received aid through the Seay bequest, said Pamela Kurstedt, assistant dean of the college of engineering.
During his lifetime, Seay, a member of the Class of 1934, received the University's Distinguished Service Award, served on the committee of the Virginia Tech Education Foundation, and was a member of the Alumni Fund Council.
