MCDONALD'S FORMER MANAGER CHARGED WITH THEFT

A former manager of the McDonald's in Blacksburg was arrested Thursday and charged with grand larceny in connection with the theft of a day's receipts last December.

Jeffrey Kyle Covey, 25, of Foxridge Apartments in Blacksburg, was arrested at the Blacksburg Police station without incident and has been released from jail on a personal recognizance bond.

Police said the theft occurred on Dec. 19, but they declined to say how much was stolen. The deposit was reported missing to police in January by MKG Enterprises, which owns the Blacksburg McDonald's.

A spokesman for MKG Enterprises, Kathy Carlesco, would not comment on the charge against Covey. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday in Blacksburg General District Court.
