WHAT ELSE COULD AMERICA HAVE DONE?

EVA LOEWY (letter, March 2) says she does not want to be asked to feel proud of the military victory in Kuwait because all options had not been explored. I don't know what else we could have done when Saddam Hussein was given more than enough time to stop his invasion of Kuwait and the slaughter of thousands of Kuwaitis and even citizens of Iraq.

Japan, as well as Hitler, would have welcomed this thinking in World War II. The action taken in Operation Desert Storm was supported by the United Nations, not just President Bush.

I feel sorry that Eva Loewy is ashamed at times that she is a human being, and cannot feel proud to be an American. Maybe she should change the country she wishes to live in.
