Mrs. Blanche Lindamood Beamer died March 14, 1991, at her home in Blacksburg, at the age of 95 years. Mrs. Beamer was the second of nine children born to James and Nannie Lindamood on a farm near Wytheville. She graduated from Mississippi State College for Women, and afterwards worked as a Home Demonstration Agent in Grayson and Augusta Counties. Married to Leo Beamer in 1928, she returned to college at Virginia Polytechnic Institute where in 1930 she earned one of the first Master of Science Degrees awared in Home Economics. She worked for the Farm Home Administration in Montgomery County during World War II, and later taught Home Economics in Blacksburg High School. Having no children of their own Mr. and Mrs. Beamer raised a nephew, Benten B. Lindamood from infancy. In addition to Mr. Lindamood, Mrs. Beamer is survived by her sisters, Ann Calahan of Rural Retreat; Bon Umbarger and Jane Lindamood of Wytheville; a brother, Noel Lindamood of Peebles, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at the Hoy-McCoy Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 17. The Rev. D. Cameron Murchison, Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
