COURT RULING FAVORS BEST FOR RETURNS

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Tina Bozman has approved a request by Best Products Co. Inc. to return up to $17.5 million worth of old merchandise and an unlimited amount of damaged products.

Under the plan approved Thursday, suppliers would pay or credit Best for the returned goods.

This kind of merchandise return is common in the weeks after the holiday shopping period.

Best filed a Chapter 11 reorganization bankruptcy petition on Jan. 4, listing liabilities and assets of about $1.5 million each. The Richmond-based catalog showroom retailer operates 195 catalog showrooms and 33 jewelry stores. - Associated Press
