ROANOKE MAN KILLED BY TRAIN ON TRESTLE

A Roanoke man was killed by a train while fishing from a railroad trestle Friday afternoon, police said.

Donald Lee Jones, 26, of the 1000 block of Bullitt Avenue, was fishing with a friend near the 2200 block of Kenwood Boulevard Southeast about 2:15 p.m.

The companion, whose name was not released, warned Jones that a train was coming, police said. Jones ran along the tracks away from the oncoming train, but tripped and fell, police said.
