TWO DIE IN ACCIDENT AT NATIONAL AIRPORT

Two women died after being struck by a Northwest Airlines van as they walked from a commuter jet to a gate at Washington National Airport.

The accident occurred about 7:30 p.m. Friday as passengers and crew were leaving the plane, Pan Am Flight 4779, a commuter flight from Mew York, an airport spokesman said.

Yvonne Lethem, of Falls Church, died at the scene. She was a Pan Am flight attendant.

The other woman was taken by helicopter to Washington Hospital Center, where she later died. Her name was not released.
