William Terry Hicks Jr., age 74, passed away Saturday, March 16, 1991, at his home. He was born in Carroll County, April 10, 1916, a son of William Terry Hicks Sr. and Ann Gregory Hicks. He was a retired soil conservationist with the Soil and Water Conservation Agency. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucille E. Hicks; two sisters, Mrs. Ocie H. Hylton, Hillsville; Mrs. Odessa H. Lindsay, Charlottesville; four nephews, Joe Burton Hicks, Radford; Dr. James M. Hylton, Pulaski; Dr. Joseph E. Gardner, Harrisonburg; Dr. Richard E. Gardner, Staunton; three nieces, Betsy Ann Harmon, Christiansburg; Ella Ann Allen, Galax; Evelyn G. Marshall, Charlottesville. Funeral services will be Monday, March 18, 1991, at 11:00 a.m. at the Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel with Dr. William Gunter officiating. Interment will be in the Gardner Memorial Cemetery. The family says that flowers will be appreciated however a memorial may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 616, Hillsville, Va., for the Building Fund. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Hillsville Masonic Lodge. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
