NO ONE INJURED IN APARTMENT FIRE

Fire damaged three rooms of a Northeast Roanoke apartment Saturday morning, causing $30,000 worth of damage.

Roanoke district Fire Chief Paul Thompson said no one was injured in the 10:42 a.m. fire at 3108 Ellsworth St. N.E.

The fire began in a pantry, then spread to the kitchen and living room. Thompson said the fire apparently began in a plastic trash bucket and may have started when a cigarette was dumped into it.

Two bedrooms were damaged by smoke. Thompson said the apartment, owned by the Roanoke Housing Authority and occupied by Nancy Kellis, probably was habitable.

The other apartment in the building was not damaged.
