TAR HEELS ROUT TECH 11-1 IN BASEBALL

North Carolina used a nine-run third inning to defeat Virginia Tech 11-1 in the Pepsi/Me-n-Ed's Baseball Classic on Saturday.

The Tar Heels (15-6), ranked 16th in the nation, took third place in the tournament. Tech (8-6), which played five of its six tournament games against nationally ranked opponents, finished fourth with a 2-4 record. Tech starter Tim Fenn (0-2) took the loss, allowing eight hits and seven runs.
