Emma Hope Pennington and Airman John Lawson King are engaged and planning to be married June 1, 1991. She is a daughter of Mr. Ernest A. Pennington of Roanoke and Mrs. Cheryl E. Ratliff of Troutville. She was graduated from Lord Botetourt High School and attended Emory and Henry College. She is employed by Mac & Maggies. He is a son of George and Rebecca Richards of Vinton. He was graduated from William Byrd High school and is serving in the United States Air Force.
