TURKEY PROGRAM SET

The yelps and gobbles of wild turkeys will sound throughout the Carroll County High School in Hillsville Saturday during the second annual Virginia Highlands Hunting Expo and Turkey Calling Contest.

Competition will include the King of the Highlands Calling Contest for amateurs at 11 a.m., and a National Wild Turkey Federation open division at 3 p.m. Entry fees for competitors is $5.

Sponsored by the Virginia Highlands Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, the 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. expo will feature Perfection Turkey Calls maker Tom Duvall (9:30 a.m.), retired state wildlife biologists Kit Shaffer (1 p.m.) and National Wild Turkey Federation officer Pete Bromly (2 p.m.).
