POLICEWOMAN HELD IN SLAYING OF OFFICER

A District of Columbia police officer was charged with second-degree murder Sunday in the slaying of another officer following an argument stemming from a domestic dispute, a spokesman said.

Sgt. Joe Gentile said Policewoman Vinnie Lagon, 29, a two-year veteran assigned to the department's special operations division, also was placed on administrative leave with pay after fatally wounding Officer Jacques Flemming with her service revolver on Saturday night. The shooting occurred at an apartment the two shared, Gentile said.

Flemming was a five-year veteran who was assigned to the department's narcotics division.
