Between 500,000 and 600,000 gallons flowed from the line, located between the city water plant and storage reservoir, and flowed into a creek.
Assistant City Manager Kim Cox said all industries were asked to suspend operations, basically to make sure there was enough water remaining on hand for fire protection while the line could be repaired.
He said late Monday that industrial operations could resume.
The rupture occurred about 6:30 a.m.
"It's just a line that broke," Cox said. "That happens sometimes."
