The Justice Department is investigating whether General Electric Co. employees illegally bribed the chief arms buyer for the Israeli air force, Brig. Gen. Rami Dotan, who was convicted in Israel Sunday of taking $10 million in kickbacks. Government sources said Monday that federal prosecutors in Ohio and San Francisco are conducting a probe into possible violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, which prohibits bribery of foreign officials.

The Securities and Exchange Commission took a long-expected step Monday and banned former Drexel Burnham Lambert junk bond chief Michael Milken from the securities industry for life. Milken, 44, earlier this month began serving a 10-year term in federal prison after pleading guilty to six felony charges of securities fraud.
