RESCUE SQUAD NOT INVOLVED IN CAMPAIGN

Residents of the Christiansburg area may have received letters in the past week from an organization identified as the Christiansburg Area Heart Attack Rescue Squad. The organization has no affiliation with the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, said spokeswoman Kathy Dowdy.

Dowdy, secretary for the Christiansburg Rescue Squad, said she has received a number of inquiries from residents who say the letter asks for donations and invites membership in this organization.

Dowdy noted that the local rescue squad does have a door-to-door fund-raising campaign in progress now. "We have a project with Rainbow Productions," she said. "They're collecting donations for the Christiansburg Rescue Squad through portrait sales."

Dowdy said anyone with questions about the requests for donations may call members of the volunteer squad or the crew hall, 382-9318.
