DALTON, ARCHIE H.

DUBLIN - Archie Harless Dalton, age 78, of Route 1, Dublin died Monday afternoon in the VA Hospital, Salem. Born February 25, 1913 in Pulaski County he was the son of the late Robert J. Dalton and Amelia Reynolds Dalton. He was preceded in death by a son John Ed Dalton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a retired employee of Hercules, Inc. He was a member of the Newbern United Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Men. He was a retired member of the Newbern Volunteer Fire Dept. which he helped to organize. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Lyons Dalton; one son, Donald N. Dalton, Dublin; one daughter, Mrs. Duane (Mary Sue) Pace, Pulaski; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert J. Dalton, Jr., Pulaski; Walter R. Dalton, Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. Harry (Edith) Brown, Radford; Mrs. Eldee (Alice) Knode, Pulaski. Funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. from the Newbern United Methodist Church with the Rev. Terry Goodman and Rev. Clifton McLawhorn officiating. Interment will follow in the Newbern Cemetery. Visiting will be any time after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday and the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas M. Seagle and Sons Funeral Home.
