LUTHERANS SEEK DELAY ON EPISCOPALIAN UNITY

Lutheran bishops have called for delaying a proposed plan for establishing unity with the Episcopal Church, church officers said Wednesday.

They said a meeting of bishops of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America had voted 45 to 12 to recommend that no action be taken on the "full communion" plan until they're agreed it wouldn't compromise church doctrine and practice.
