WHY PUT TECH BREAK ON METRO WEEKEND?

ON FRIDAY evening, March 8, I drove through the unusually quiet streets of Blacksburg. Quiet, not because Virginia Tech students were headed to the Roanoke Civic Center, but because they were headed home for spring break.

In all the "wailing" articles about the lack of revenue the Metro Conference participants brought to the Roanoke Valley, I have not read a single journalist who turned toward Blacksburg and asked Tech administrators to explain why spring break was scheduled on the same weekend as the Metro Conference.
