ROANOKE APARTMENT DAMAGED BY FIRE

An early morning fire today caused about $15,000 damage to an apartment on Bennett Drive Northwest.

The fire, which broke out shortly before 5 a.m., was confined to a bedroom, although smoke caused damage throughout the apartment. Several occupants were evacuated, but no one was injured.

Authorities said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
