RELIGION BRIEFS

THE LIGHT SINGERS, a choral group from Liberty University in Lynchburg, will present a concert Sunday at 11 a.m. at New Life Temple, 5445 Airport Road N.W. Music will be part of a video the choir made last year on a visit to the Soviet Union and Romania.

\ GREEN RIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH, 5521 Green Ridge Road, will sponsor a youth revival Saturday through Monday nights at 7. The guest preacher, Rodney Gage, has addressed teens throughout the Southern Baptist Convention on avoiding alcohol abuse. Gage also will preach at the 11 a.m. service and will visit several Roanoke Valley high schools.

\ A NEW PIPE ORGAN will be dedicated Sunday at 3 p.m. at Fincastle Presbyterian Church. A reception will be held after the dedication. Thomas Baugh of the staff of Christ Episcopal Church in Roanoke will give an organ recital.

\ THE FAYETTEVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY CHOIR from North Carolina will sing Sunday at 4 p.m. at High Street Baptist Church, 2302 Florida Ave. N.W. Directed by Augustus Pearson, the choral group is making a return appearance under sponsorship of the High Street Sanctuary Choir.

\ TROUTVILLE BAPTIST CHURCH has scheduled revival services Sunday through Wednesday with the Rev. Michael Osborne of Kenbridge preaching at 11 a.m. Sunday and nightly at 7. Osborne was pastor of the church from 1983-86. Rebecca Tingler of Salem will be guest music leader.

\ A GOSPEL CONCERT is scheduled Saturday at 7 p.m. at Living Water Church of God in Christ, 2330 Orange Ave. N.W. The concert is open to participation by guest choirs; call 562-0066, 343-2605 or 563-2072.

\ THE REV. OTTAWA PULLEN of Blue Ridge Baptist Church will lead worship at 4 p.m. Sunday at a Heroines of Jericho celebration. It will be at the Masonic Hall at 533 Centre Ave. N.W.

\ A SINGLES CONFERENCE, led by Ann Alexander Smith, a consultant for the Southern Baptist Convention, will held in session Friday and Saturday at First Baptist Church in downtown Roanoke. Sessions will begin at 7 p.m. and 9 a.m. and will include help in starting a church singles ministry as well as a workshop on adjusting to divorced status. Cost is $10. \ HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, established in the Roanoke Valley five years ago, has now erected 12 homes for the working poor in Northwest and Southeast Roanoke. Volunteers from businesses as well as churches have provided labor and materials with prospective homeowners also contributing labor. Two Southwest County congregations, Cave Spring Baptist and Cave Spring United Methodist, each did all the work on a house.

The organization is now raising money to build more houses on donated lots in the Gainsboro and Belmont neighborhoods.

\ A WORKSHOP SERIES to introduce the principles of the Eckankar belief system is scheduled April 11, 18 and 25 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the downtown Roanoke Public Library. For more information, call 774-4437.

\ VINTON CHURCH OF THE BRETHREN, 711 Dale Ave., has set revival services Sunday through Wednesday nights at 7:15. Preaching will be the Rev. Richard Gottshall, interim pastor of Blue Ridge Church of the Brethren.
