SUPERVISORS' CHAIRWOMAN WILL SEEK SECOND TERM

Botetourt County Board of Supervisors chairwoman Wanda C. "Wendy" Wingo Wingo has announced that she will seek a second term on the board.

Wingo, who represents the Blue Ridge Magisterial District, is one of three supervisors whose terms expire this year. Harold E. Wilhelm of the Valley District and G. C. Thompson Jr. of the Fincastle District have not announced their intentions.

Wingo, who became chairwoman in January, will seek the Democratic nomination for the general election in November.

In announcing for a second term, Wingo said she wants to continue as a board member while Botetourt "strives to meet the tremendous challenge of reduced state and federal funds, of residential and commercial growth, of county water and sewer needs and of educating our young people to meet the demands of a changing work force."

In addition to being a county supervisor, Wingo also represents Botetourt and several other counties on the board of directors of the Virginia Association of Counties.

She also is a member of the Botetourt library board of trustees, the executive committee of the Fifth Planning District Commission and several local and state governmental committees.
