NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT SAMUEL B. JONES, son of Sandra P. Jones of 3112 Oaklawn Ave., has completed training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

\ MARINE PVT. MARK O. WATERS, son of William G. and Donna G. Waters of 4107 Belle Meade Drive, has completed training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is a 1990 graduate of Cave Spring. Waters joined the Marine Corps Reserves in August 1990.

\ ARMY PVT. JAMES J. SPICHEK, son of Joseph E. and Janie M. Spichek of 4545 Oakland Blvd. N.E., has arrived for duty at Camp Casey, South Korea. An infantryman, Spichek is a 1990 graduate of Roanoke Catholic High School.

\ MARINE SGT. JEFFERY A. SITZE, son of William R. and Mamie I. Sitze of 2251 Moir St. N.E., recently reported for duty at Marine Corps Air Station, Beaufort, S.C. He is a 1986 graduate of William Fleming High School.

\ NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT JEREMY N. WHITMAN, son of Connie L. Hawse of 712 Suburban Ave. S.W., has completed training at Recruit Training Command, San Diego.

\ AIRMAN\ JOSEPH A. DAVIS Davis has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. He is a 1990 graduate of William Byrd High School.

\ ARMY MAJ. RONALD V. DOWNING has assumed command of the Yongsan District, Army Criminal Investigation Command, South Korea. He is the son of H. Jane Schuler of 3739 Southway Drive and Carroll A. Downing of Moneta. Downing is a 1973 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.

\ NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT BRIAN L. CUNNINGHAM, son of Walter C. Cunningham Jr. of 1527 Brownlee Ave., has completed training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is a 1986 graduate of Cave Spring High School.

\ THE NAVAL AND MARINE CORPS RESERVE CENTER in Roanoke recently recognized Petty Officer 2nd Class Kent A. Blackburn, Chief Petty Officer Kenneth C. Vaughan, and Petty Officer 3rd Class William A. Nevens, all of Roanoke. They received commendations for outstanding performance of duty, professionalism and overall dedication to the service.
