LYNCHBURG SLIDES PAST WASHINGTON AND LEE

Bobby Gansel hit a three-run triple in the third inning to erase a two-run deficit, and Chad Smith made the lead stand by hurling a five-hitter as Lynchburg beat Washington and Lee 3-2 in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference baseball game Thursday.

Smith struck out five for the Hornets (6-2 overall, 2-0 ODAC) and kept W&L (5-4 overall, 1-4 ODAC) without a baserunner for the final four innings. T.J. Daly took the loss for W&L.
