KAGEY, TURNER NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-STATE

Former Roanoke high school stars David Kagey and Russell Turner were each voted to the 1991 Virginia Sports Information Director's (VaSID) College Division Men's All-State team Thursday.

Kagey, from Cave Spring, and Turner, from Patrick Henry, were named to the first team after earning second-team honors last season.

Kagey averaged 17.7 points per game as a senior last season at Randolph-Macon. Turner, a 6-7 forward at Hampden-Sydney, averaged 21.4 points and 7.6 rebounds.

Lamont Strothers of Christopher Newport was named Player of the Year. Leon Hill of Emory & Henry and Jerome Coles of Norfolk State were the other members of the first team.

Randolph-Macon's Hal Nunnally was voted Coach of the Year. - Staff report
