CLEMSON NIPS JMU ON LATE SHOT

Senior Peggy Sells' only shot of the game, a 14-foot jumper with two seconds left, gave Clemson a 57-55 victory over James Madison on Thursday night in an NCAA East Regional semifinal.

Clemson (22-10) will meet Connecticut for the Eastern title Saturday. Connecticut beat North Carolina State 82-71.

A layup by Brandy Cruthird with 1:06 remaining gave James Madison (26-5) a 55-53 edge, but Cheron Wells hit two free throws for Clemson to tie the score at 55-all with 45 seconds to go.

James Madison turned the ball over with 13 seconds left, setting up Sells' game-winning shot.

Paula Schuler had 20 points and Vicki Harris 14 for the Dukes.
