DRUG DEALERS BURN WOMAN OVER DEBT

A Norfolk woman was severely burned after three alleged drug dealers doused her with gasoline and set her afire, police said.

Wanda Gallup, 29, was in serious condition Thursday night at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a spokeswoman said. She suffered burns over 40 percent of her body, mostly to her upper body, police and fire officials said.

Her injuries were revenge for a delinquent drug debt, police said. Two houses in Huntersville were also damaged in the same attack late Wednesday, police said.

Gallup's roommate, Windemia Jones, suffered smoke inhalation and an ankle injury when she jumped from the house's second floor.

There were no arrests Thursday evening, said Capt. Herbert Redfield of the Norfolk arson squad.

Late Wednesday, the arsonists entered Gallup's apartment and accused her of withholding money she owed for cocaine, police said.

While dousing Gallup, the alleged dealers told Jones, "If you don't want the same thing, you'd better run," Redfield said.
