John Odell Harvell, 66, of 7129 Taylor Road, Lynchburg, Va. died Friday, March 22, 1991 in Virginia Baptist Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Frances Sutherland Harvell. Born in Franklin County, he was a son of Laura Mae Bradley Harvell of Henry and the late Rev. Millis Odell Harvell. He was a retired salesman of welding supplies, a charter member of Brookville United Methodist Church, a member of American Legion Post No. 16, a US Army veteran of World War II and a member of Lynchburg Wesleyan Church. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one daughter, Ann Harvell Maddox of Elon; one son, John Benjamin Harvell of Lynchburg; two sisters, Beulah Ramsey of Henry; and Virginia Dudley of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Shelley Seeman, Mary Sue Harvell, Ricky Harvell and Ben Maddox. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Lynchburg Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Barry Lawson and the Rev. Paul Wheeler. Burial will be in Northfield Cemetery, Penhook, at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The family will receive friends at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, 7404 Timberlake Road from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. today and at other times at the residence.
