ANCHOR, BUREAU CHIEF LEAVING WSLS-TV

Two members of the WSLS-TV news staff confirmed Friday they have resigned. The Channel 10 news anchor, Mary Jo McClelland, has resigned "to join the mommy track" and move to Scranton, Pa., where her husband recently went to work for Shamrock Broadcasting Co. McClelland, 31, said she's looking forward to spending more time with her 9-month-old son, Samuel, and suggested she's not sure if she'll return to broadcasting.

McClelland came to Roanoke from Boston in June 1989. Her resignation is effective in late May, at the close of the spring ratings period. She said a replacement has not been named.

Meanwhile, the station's Martinsville bureau chief, Peter Morrison, also has left WSLS to become an education reporter for The Martinsville Bulletin.
