`PEACE GROUPS' WRONGLY LABELED

WITH THE WAR in Kuwait behind us, we recall the many doomsday prophecies that swirled around us. I suggest you change the terms to describe some of the groups demonstrating in Market Square. You incorrectly labeled several as "peace groups." Their activities were clearly "pro-Iraqi" or "hate America."

If they are really concerned about peace, why do they not demand the Iraqi army units stop fighting among themselves? Why this strange silence? And will the Plowshare folks who gave us the "Kuwait provoked Iraq into a war" theory now come up with something equally farfetched to explain away the mass murders and kidnappings of Kuwaiti civilians? Let's hope not; the truth has been sorely tried already.

While some of the media asked asinine questions, most reporting was great. The article Jan. 20 by Cody Lowe concerning Bishop Walter F. Sullivan's stand against the liberation of Kuwait was well-written, and clearly demonstrated the need for a press free of pressures.
