BOYNTON, DOUGLAS R.

Douglas Raymond Boynton, age 63, of Roanoke, died Friday, March 22, 1991, at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Abraham W. Boynton. He was born in McAllen, Texas and grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. He served in the South Pacific during World War II. He attended Texas A & M and V.P.I., graduating as a structural engineer. He was employed as an engineer and computer programmer by Cooper & Perry, Knoxville, Tenn., and by Hayes, Seay, Mattern and Mattern. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Surviving are his wife, Meta Hill Boynton; children, Dr. Bruce R. Boynton, Lexington, Ky.; Allen C. Boynton, Morganton, N.C.; Hannah Boynton Holzer, Effingham, Ill.; Melissa A. Boynton, Richmond; A. Douglas Boynton, Taipai, Taiwan; daughters-in-law, Carole G. Boynton, Ellen C. Boynton; son-in-law, Peter A. Holzer; grandchildren, William J. Frederick, Anson C. Holzer, Daniel A. Boynton, Paul A. Holzer, B. Christian Boynton, Greta L. Boynton, Rachel A. Holzer, Eric G. Boynton, Gabriel D. Holzer, Geoffrey C. Boynton. A memorial service will be conducted at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church on Monday, March 25, 1991, at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. J. Harris Stevens and Dr. James A. Allison Jr. officiating. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Roanoke Memorial Hospice Program or the Presbyterian Community Center. Arrangements are by Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory, Bedford.
