TECH DROPS CINCINNATI IN BASEBALL

J.R. Hawkins' two-run homer capped a four-run seventh inning as Virginia Tech rallied for a 14-11 Metro Conference baseball win against Cincinnati on Saturday at English Field.

Catcher Clint Creed had five hits, four RBI and four runs scored for the Hokies (10-7, 1-0), who scored in six of eight innings. Mike Reedy and Josh Haggas each added four hits in Tech's 20-hit attack. Reedy drove in five.

Cincinnati (10-3, 0-1) led 4-1 and 10-8.
