SMALL LEADS MAROONS PAST JOHNS HOPKINS

Kaylie Small scored three goals to lead Roanoke College, fifth-ranked in Division III, to an 8-7 women's lacrosse victory over eighth-ranked Johns Hopkins.

The Maroons (5-0) grabbed an early 3-1 advantage, but did not score for more than 17 minutes to end the first half, and Johns Hopkins went into halftime ahead 4-3.

After the teams traded second-half leads, Small gave Roanoke a 7-6 lead with nine minutes remaining, and freshman Chris Hanna scored her second goal of the game four minutes later to give the Maroons an 8-6 lead and seal the win.

Courtney Dittman also scored two goals for Roanoke. - Staff report
