ROCKET MOTOR CRASHES IN GORDONSVILLE TEST

A spectacular explosion during the testing of a solid-fuel rocket motor scattered bits of the motor over a 2,450-acre test site but did not injure anyone, officials said.

The motor crashed Friday afternoon into a nearby residential intersection several hundred yards from where a school bus was letting out children.

Experts at the Atlantic Research Corp. in Orange are trying to determine what went wrong during the test at the company's facility off Virginia 621.
