ALEXANDER, MARY C.

Mary Colley Alexander, age 56, of Roanoke, died Saturday at her home. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology. Mrs. Alexander served as chairman of various committees at the North Cross Schools, including Book Fair chairman and co-chairman of the North Cross Field Day in 1972. She was a past president of the Children's Theatre and was instrumental in staging the first local talent productions in the Roanoke Civic Center. She was past president of the Hunting Hills Garden Club and the Roanoke Academy of Medicine Auxiliary. Mrs. Alexander was a board member and secretary of the Roanoke Branch of the Arthritis Foundation. Mrs. Alexander supported her husband for many years in his activities in organized medicine. Surviving are her husband, Dr. H. Christopher Alexander III; two daughters, Susan Campbell Alexander, San Francisco, Calif.; Margaret Winn Alexander, Alexandria; son, H. Christopher Alexander IV, Moffett Naval Air Station, Calif.; brother, Andrew Butler Colley, Owensboro, Ky. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Services will be 12:00 noon Tuesday at Second Presbyterian Church with Dr. William R. Klein officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in West View Cemetery, Farmville, Va. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
