RICHMOND - Katherine Smithers Clarke, age 84, died Saturday, March 23, 1991. She was the widow of Beauford LaFon Clarke Sr. She is survived by a son, Beauford L. (Bud) Clarke Jr., Tinton Falls, N.J.; a daughter, Mrs. William F. (Shelley) White, Glen Allen, Va.; four grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Marshall Smithers, North Carolina; two sisters, Ruby Poole, Virginia Beach; Ann Mann, Ohio. Mrs. Clarke was born in Rocky Mount, Va. and raised in Roanoke. She was a graduate of Roanoke Business College. A graveside service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday in Fair View Cemetery in Roanoke.
