HILLSVILLE MEN GET LIFE TERMS IN SLAYING

Two 19-year-old men who admitted to first-degree murder in a beating death last July 27 at a Hillsville motel have been given life sentences under a plea agreement.

They each also got a 75-year sentence for robbery at the Towne House Motel, where Garner Bowman was found injured after accompanying the pair to their room when they complained of toilet problems. He died later.

Christopher John Vincent and Robert Anthony Foglia, later arrested in Texas, entered into the plea agreement Friday in Carroll County Circuit Court.

They had been the only guests at the motel, where Bowman's wife was the manager. Money was taken from a cash drawer.

The two men were originally charged with capital murder, but the charge was reduced under the agreement.
