Willie Hortense Carter, age 76, of Liberty House Nursing Home, Roanoke died Friday, March 22, 1991 at the home. She was born in Bedford County on March 27, 1914 a daughter of the late James William Carter and Gertrude Elizabeth Wood Carter. She was a retired secretary. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. H. Eugene (Hazel) Cook of Indianapolis, Ind., a brother, James W. Carter of Santa Clara, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Private family graveside services were held in Greenwood Cemetery, Bedford, Monday, March 25, 1991 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Kenneth E. Burger officiating.
