COVINGTON - Tillman Miller Hepler, age 84, died Sunday night in Alleghany Regional Hospital. He was a 1933 graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and served as Agricultural Extension Agent in Montgomery County for over 40 years. He also served as Extension Agent at various times for Bland, Bedford, and Giles Counties. For many years he was active with the Montgomery County 4-H Clubs working with young farmers and show cattle. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Edna Johnson and Miss Harriett Hepler, both of Covington; one brother, David Ray Hepler, Richmond; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Mary Lee Hubbard, Covington, and Mrs. Lawrence (Marjorie Helen) McCarthy, Richmond. Mr. Hepler was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ellen Carter Hepler in 1971 and also by three brothers, Ryland Hepler, Paul Hepler, and Delbert Hepler. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Persinger Memorial United Methodist Church at Covington. Interment will be in the Persinger Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7:00 until 8:30 at Arritt Funeral Home.
