REDISTRICTING HEARING SET FOR TODAY

A public hearing on proposed new House of Delegates districts will be held today at 3 p.m. in Wytheville Community College's Bland Hall auditorium by the House Committee on Privileges and Elections.

Del. Ford Quillen, D-Gate City and committee chairman, said other hearings are set for Wednesday in Annandale and Suffolk and Thursday in Richmond.

He said the committee is interested in comments on the working draft and proposals for district plans, including minority group proposals to meet federal Voting Rights Act standards.
